Today I have noticed that Mike Craig has updated his homepage and revealed the model behind the reference number MVM03: The Ferrari 250 GT SWB Breadvan (2819GT). I thought that might be a nice occasion to start a thread dedicated to Mont Ventoux Montage

These should be ready next month. This kit will build two versions:

4675 GT – Targa Florio 1964 N°118 & Spa 1964 N°21
3413 GT – Targa Florio 1964 N°114

Pre-orders can be made now. Price should remain below $200 as with the previous 1962 GTO. Mike

News from Mike Craig! The second model of the Esprit43 series has been announced! It is the 1964 250 GTO. Great to see the biggest of the classics announced as excellent white metal kits. You can see pictures of the kit on his homepage!

I vistited the website of MVM43. Great to see the future projects! I like especially the DB4GT Zagato 0193/R version!! Also Maserati A6GCs and Shelby Cobra are very interesting!!

Mike Craig has updated his site and placed a lot (!) of announcements for his MVM range on it. The selection of cars is multifaceted and there should be interesting subjects for everyone.

Also I have read in a French forum that the second Esprit43 kit is the pipeline (250 GTO 1964).

I had noticed this issue too, but I think the steering mechanism has to be seen as an innovative option for the builder and not as a necessity (and a handicap to advanced builders who want to open it). Thanks for the clarification, Mike!

took a better look at the kit, and i see what you mean. for some reason, i thought that it interfered with where the engine would go, but after looking at it again, i see that it can be easily removed.

Be sure to look at each photo I sent of this kit, you will see that qualified builders can add engine detail as with any other AMR/LP type body. The steering mechanism does not have to be used. Builders who know how to cut out panels and make their own will certainly not have any trouble doing the same with this kit. And the wheels can still be posed without a direct link to the steering wheel so it is still better than the old AMR setup. Nice to have options and unlike other kits that have posable wheels like the CTR, these can be adjusted at any time, other kits are fixed, like a car that has been parked with the steering wheel locked and no keys. :-)

Although i like the creativity in the steering mechanism, i feel that it makes the model a bit toyish dont take me wrong though, i really like it, just not in this car. another thing that i don't like about having this, is that this makes it so no engine detail can be added. there will be additional work to be done to make it so this can be a full open/closed model if one wished to do the extra work.

With that said though, it looks like an excellent kit, and i would love to build one.

I guess most of you have noticed the new brand Esprit43 (thumps up for the vintage look of the brand logo!!) and its first release, the 250 GTO. What interests me is your opinion about the steering mechanism which is quite innovative for a 1/43rd handbuilt. Is it too toyish or just the right thing? As far as I know the AMR Ruf CTR had also a front wheel construction which allowed steering - at least theoretically.
