Posted - 08/22/2013 : 00:55:45 Very nice work Jerry...I have seen the window oversight from a world renowned builder. It Fifa 13 Ultimate Team Forums happens and doesn't take away from the work you have done here. BRAVO! |

Peter, that 153 car was an aluminum car which had those vent windows along with a few other differences.
Tommy, Make some 1/43rd decals already
Thanks Joe...I will copy the 1/24th Porsche 356 Pan Am sheet with a few corrections and have them printed by Cartograf in 1/43rd hopefully in January. I just sent finally the Alfa Romeo Pan Am 1954 and Mille Miglia sheet for the Quattroruote 1/24th models(very nice 1900TI diecast)and a few other Alfa's from the Quattroruote series. They should be back soon.
Also thanks to Dark Star for the comments. I know we did make that mistake and did not notice until they came back. They don't have spell check for decal artwork :)
best,

Wow !!! That you say, it's great, Tom. I want a full sheet of the decals of the Panamericana 356 1 / 43!!! I have more Bosica kits for those projects.-)))

Did you use the Bosica hinges? I have on the 356 kit and they work just fine.
Thanks Peter Indeed, I used the original hinges of the Bosica kit. They are magnificent, but must be handled carefully because they can be folded easily.
I think this Superkit, who by the way dates from 1983 is the best I've ever had in my hands. .-)))

Very nice work on them all. You do know these were pre A 356's with either a split window or a kink in the front window? The #153 car was a low roof split window. The Bosica is a 356 A. 914joe is the expert on these 356 model cars in my opinion. Since I did decals for the #162 car I noticed a few decals missing off the BBR/Project 43 sheet(the Carrera Panamericana lettering down the top of the windows)
Keep the Pan Am models coming.

You are correct, they are both split window cars. Lot's of information here:

Thanks a lot Tom I am not an expert on the Porsche 356, I'm just a lover of good models in 1 / 43, and the truth, I have learned many things today with your comments. By the way, I have seen the decals in 1 / 24 scale, and are great but have a bug to be corrected, at # 162. Where it says, ASCOCIACION Should be put, ASOCIACION. .-)))

Posted - 12/01/2011 : 13:49:50 I would be interested in purchasing some decals to go with my Bosica kit. I am trying to get some decals made from a scan of the originals for a different kit as well. Another forum member is trying to help me, but he is in Germany and I would love to find some additional options. I dont think Mike would have a problem with this concept, but I defer to him always if he does. |

Thanks, Erik. The time has led me to build the kit has been 8 days with time spent with the construction of other kits

Posted - 12/01/2011 : 11:05:49 I attached the wrong link for the 1/24 reference I made. I did a copy paste and it keeps coming up as the 550. I'll try again. This should be better:

Posted - 12/01/2011 : 10:26:27 Thanks for the links. The Canada sponsored cars ran in 1951 and 1952 with a Hudson Hornet, then in 1953 as a blue metalic 356 pre A and finally as a 550 in 1954. One thing we found researching was that the 550 was goldish colored not silver. Here is a link I try to update over at Ferrarichat on the original 1950-1954 Pan am race. Photos of all the above cars are in the thread.

Posted - 12/01/2011 : 08:46:25 1953 split window. Car had no bumpers and BBR got some of the decals wrong [unless there was a later 153 car]. I have seen too many variations/interpretations of this car. Note that it also has vent windows.

Here is your 1/24 car...it's subtle but it's there:
http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/1953/Carrera_Panamericana-1953-11-23-151.jpg
And Jerry's version...you can see a definitive kink in this image and I think your 1/24 version would have a similar frame.
