Well, I recognize that big Toschi Ferrari 500 F2, but that type of case is not what I normally use or have made for me. Having said that I did go through my files of various services and suppliers and have listed web sites and contcats below for a few case makers, specifically ones that make wood and glass cases. The only exception is Todd Koller of Victory Scale Case. He makes cases in almost any size, but his are wood with acrylic covers. The others use glass. Todd's work is superb and very reasonable for the quality of materials and craftsmanship.

Here is the short list. Good luck and please let us all know how any of these work out for you.

The case looks to be from 'Michaels'; which is a craft store here in the USA. They have them in a variety of sizes.

It could also be one of the cases produced by Pocher for their large scale car models. When I ran the shop,in the mid '70's,I once ordered a built up display model from them,an Alfa,(at a cost so low it's silly, compared to cost of a built-up Pocher model now-or even a kit),and it was supplied with a wood and glass case very similar to the one pictured. They were also available for sale at the time,I remember ordering some for customers over the years.........Perhaps some are still around.

Now that you both mention it. Yup, that case does look like it's the type sold in Michael's stores and also like the cases for the Pocher's. Given the large size of the Toschi piece that makes sense.

If you want really great cases then I'd have to go with one of the places I listed. It all depends on what you want and how much you want to pay......

Dry Todd Koller, I have most of my larger cases made by him.

Dear all,

many thanks for your help, it is much appreciated.

Dear Wolfgang,

does Todd produce display cases for models in scale 1/12 or 1/10?

Is shipping to Germany no problem? No risk of damage during shipping?

Reinhard,

Just thought I would jump in, on this. Todd can make some pretty large cases. I've had him make a few for 1:12 scale, and also had him make one for a 1:8 Bugatti Type 35. So, yes, he can make large cases for 1:12 and 1:10 models, but he has to use thick acrylic, and the cost gets fairly expensive, but the quality is great.

Apologies to Wolfgang, I did not mean to interrupt.

As Mashall already mentioned, Todd does make larger cases!

Shipping to Germany: Todd usually packs those cases very well.
However shipping cost is very high, and on top are the customs fee (Zoll)
They charge the 19% Mehrwertssteuer, plus the add the mailing cost were you also have to pay the sure tax.
I personally stopped ordering, because the shipping cost and the Customs were more than the case was costing me.
But the cases Todd make, are defiantly outstanding.

Marshall, Wolfgang,

once again thanks for your help.

I like the version with the road surface base very much.

Hello Marshall,

do you have a photo of the display case you got from Todd in scale 1:8? Can you share it with us?

Thanks again, Reinhard
