This is a nice break from the Ferrari subjects and personally I don't think they get the exposure they should. They are marvelous cars and MFH has released some stunning kits of the Gulf 917L from Le Mans. I will build one of each, #17 and #18. If interested in one please contact Mike.

Here are photos of the kits...not only are they nicely packaged but very detailed. White metal for the bulk of the kit too. I do like the cast amber parts...nice touch.

They look almost perfect straight out of the box.

This kit is pretty amazing. The engineering is very precise. The resin portion screws to the white metal body section and then the space frame [after very careful clean up] slips tightly into place. This is a dream kit!

Yes they are...I am enjoying every minute.

Here is the "dry fit" stage of the build. Every part that requires tolerances must be assembled and then de-constructed. So far everything is pretty good. Extreme care must be taken with the resin frame...it is delicate and brittle.

Here are photos of the various stages of dry fit.

And a little side step...initial design of the display base so I can order the case work. Based on the dry fit results these will be reasonably priced. Feel free to ask Mike for a quote.

I will now add the #21 Martini version and the #3 "Hippie Car" to this series...these are strictly limited to one of each version. Contact Mike to reserve a set.

The nose section on the Gulf Porsche is quite different from the Martini car which I believe ran in 1971. The hippie car ran in 1970….I think. BTW, the hippie car now resides in the Simeone Museum in Philadelphia. !

The engine is then test fit to the chassis one more time…and it is very tight indeed!

Starting from the top I am focused on the #18 car. The front fender vents are corrected and the NACA ducts are opened.

The correct paint is chosen.

The NACA ducts are opened up rear body section.

The body is checked for fit.
